Lexington Avenue

i dream of his tongue.

i am galavanting through ancient cathedrals,
humming along to the sounds of organs.

raised eyebrows sound like
screams of self-abnegation over the phone,
hands dancing to a demented orchestra.

my oxygen tastes like cigarettes,
i hallucinate my hallucinations.

it has become surreal and i fear my trusting nature.
i put pencil to paper and dream a dream of shadows.

Emperor

Caligula dared them to defy him,
In his golden robes, he knelt beneath the sepulture of passion,
Begging for the milk of the gods to bless him with impunity.

Never did they imagine they would suffer a scrutiny
For wrapping their hearts in vines and spikes.

Come inside the tomb to taste
The absence of all welcome space,
The schizophrenia of a filled mouth,
Voices of supercilious love.
